Sigmund Freud is the most famous psychologist in the 20th century. Like Franz Boas he started the school of Psychology. Like Franz Boas he viewed anti-semitism as an enormous problem. He himself was subjected to anti-semitism when he was young, as was Franz Boas. And this stayed with them. This was an important part their psyche. And you can see this in their writings. That they viewed the eradication of anti-semitism as a very important criterion.

So at a deep level psycho-analysis was about developing the theory that could be used to oppose anti-semitism.

Freud consciously viewed himself as someone who was combating Western culture. He viewed himself as sort of a semitic general fighting wrong.

There are some very striking passages in his letters. He identified himself with Hannibal, who was a semitic general fighting against Rome. In Jewish thought Rome is often viewed as the quintessential West. And when they think of Rome, they think of Rome destroying the second temple. That Rome as fundamentally this sort of evil western power.

Freud viewed psycho-analysis as a mechanism of cultural warfare.

Psycho-analysis is sort of flagrantly unscientific. They did not even make a the pretense of doing a good study of anything. At. the time, the early 20th century, the dominate school in Psychology in America and England was "behaviorism".

The Behaviorist believed that Psychology had to be based on experimentation. The Departments of Psychology in America had this strong empirical sense. They criticized Psycho-analysis, where is your data, show me some studies.

Even some of Freud's followers very early on became disillusioned when they did not see the data. They even started to realize that Psycho-analysis was a set of propositions that were promulgated by the leaders. And if you were a follower you would simply accept these. And if you did not accept these you were simple written out of the movement. So it was not conducted as a normal science.

Where it really was important, and really dominated was in the area of Psychiatry. Psychiatry became dominated by the Freudians, but that has disappeared because of the rise of Biological Psychiatry. Nowadays when Psychiatrists think of depression they are much more likely to think of what drugs you can use. What parts of the brain are involved in the depression. They did not have that back in the early 20th century. And so Psycho-analysis could say anything they want about depression and neurosis. And they could make up stories about repressing sex. They could make up whatever story they wanted any that was pretty much accepted.

And you would bring patients in who would have neurosis and you would talk with them. Hopefully they got better, maybe they did not. Most of them did not.

The genius of Freud was to develop a sort of metaphor, a paradigm, that people resinated to almost automatically. Because obviously the repression of sexuality was an important part of Western culture.

Goes into Kinsey (the sexual reformer) - ( 4:25 - 5:35) My comments, this is a concern because these were not moral individuals MAKING IMMORAL EXPERIMENTS.

So when Freud talked about sex as the fundamental basis of all things neurotic. It has a certain surface plausibility (apparently valid). It was not ridiculous, I suppose. It was not based on science but it was based, I think, on sort of an attractive paradigm. " Kevin MacDonald

This gives you the sort of indication of the predatory attitude that Freud had toward his patients.
The best example would be Horace Frink, this doctor from America. He wants to be a Psychoanalyst. So he shows up with Freud. And during the course of his psychoanalysis with Freud, he says I have this sexual attraction towards my patients. Is this bad? Is this bad to have relations with one of your patients? Is this unethical? Not to say that even beyond the fact that you are married to someone else.

So what does Freud say, no he did not think it was bad idea. As a matter of fact he urged Frink to dump his wife and marry this woman because she had a lot of money. And then give a significant contribution to the Psychoanalytic Society.

This is an outrageous conflict of interest. An outrageous abuse of the whole idea of medicine. And certainly an abuse of what Psychiatry is. And Freud himself was involved in it.

This is not an abuse this is the heart of the matter. Because Psychoanalysis is a form of sexual liberation as political control. This is portrayed as medicine. Because of the influence that the people that want to promote this have over modern culture. Okay, so you have all sorts of people now disciples of the "new psychology".

Thank you for these Cleopas. I intend to spend as much time as possible to be informed on these matters. We're so focused on fighting for the very preservation of the Faith itself it has distracted us from what we, Catholics, should all be united in fighting together for - as the Body of Christ on earth. The Enemy is enthroned on the See of Peter utilizing our weak efforts to rid ourselves of personal sin. Gossip and hearsay satisfy many 'itching ears' closing off the truth spoken from the minds and hearts of the few priests left to defend the faith. Time is short.
