The Golden Key to Paradise – Perfect Contrition
The Golden Key to Paradise, is a gem of a little book.
If in an emergency, we are aware that our soul is not ready to meet its Creator, and we cannot get hold of a priest for Confession, do we despair of salvation? Not if we make an act of perfect contrition, that is, in the depths of our hearts we are sorry for all our sins for one reason alone: that they offended our Father, and that they helped crucify Him. Perfect contrition opened heaven to the good thief. It can do the same for anyone.
In this little book, easy to read and easy to carry, you will read about perfect contrition, how to attain it, and what it does for our souls. Read it and pass it on to your children and your grandchildren. It may make a whole difference.
Act of Perfect Contrition
This act of Contrition, to make it perfect, must be made with true sorrow with and with the intention to keep the promise made in it made.O My God, I am sorry and beg pardon for all my sins. I detest them above all things because they have crucified my loving Saviour, Jesus Christ, but most of all because they offend Thine infinite goodness. I firmly resolve, by the help of Thy grace, never to offend Thee again and carefully to avoid the occasions of sin. Amen
If you have a crucifix pray before it. Perhaps you have your Rosary crucifix handy. If not say it with the intention emphasised above and with the full intention of going to Confession at the first opportunity. Do not delay. Do not let other matters take precedence otherwise your intention above is a mockery and best left unsaid for it means your second state will be worse than your first.
43And when an unclean spirit is gone out of a man he walketh through dry places seeking rest, and findeth none. 44Then he saith: I will return into my house from whence I came out. And coming he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished. 45Then he goeth, and taketh with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man in made worse than the first. So shall it be also to this wicked generation.
42Watch ye therefore, because ye know not what hour your Lord will come. 43But know this ye, that if the goodman of the house knew at what hour the thief would come, he would certainly watch, and would not suffer his house to be broken open. 44Wherefore be you also ready, because at what hour you know not the Son of man will come.
