Defence has terminated Bernie's Commission

I received the following email today 25/07/2014 and urge everyone who can help to please do so for this very courageous family man.

Dear Kathleen,
As you know, Defence has terminated my commission as a Reserve Officer in the Australian Army because I opposed uniformed military participation in the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras. On top of that, I am now required to defend myself in the New South Wales Anti-Discrimination Tribunal against claims of homosexual vilification and demands for $100,000. My crime: objecting to naked homosexual men exposing themselves to children at gay pride parades in Toronto and for highlighting remarks made recently by a New South Wales judge excusing the immorality of homosexuality, incest, paedophilia and abortion.

While I have no choice but to defend myself in this second case (and I believe I will be victorious), I am willing to fight the termination decision legally. Indeed, I have commenced action in the Federal Court. But I cannot proceed further on my own. To do so would jeopardise my ability to meet my first priority: my family. In short, I am prepared to lose my commission for defending truth and principles. However, I am not prepared to lose my house by fighting on without reinforcements.

Basically, for this fight to continue I need your financial support, actions and prayers. I am asking you to consider donating, to email some prominent people and to pray. I understand that we all face financial pressures and I also know that many of you have already given so generously. I am not asking you to do so again, or to give what you cannot afford.

But this is the equation. On average, if every person who receives this email donates about $60 then I can guarantee a full-blown counter-offensive. If not, things will end in the next two weeks.

Further action will now come down to a collective decision by conservative and Christian Australians. Are we prepared to accept this decision and the ramifications that a politically-active, pro-homosexual Defence Force acting outside the law will have on society? Or are we willing to fight and seize an opportunity to not only defend ourselves and our culture, but to go on the offensive.

Please consider this carefully.

It is absolutely guaranteed that inaction will lead to a further strengthening of an anti-Christian stance within Australia’s military and its further interference in domestic political activity in support of radical ‘progressive’ groups. If we fight back and lose, we have lost nothing. But if we fight back and win, we open the way for a massive counterattack on those who seek to undermine our values and our families.

If we can beat Defence (and the law is on our side for the moment, it has just been ignored), then we can also go after all the other government bodies and corporations that are breaking the same laws. It is illegal for government organisations and corporations to engage in religious vilification and discrimination. They break these laws every time they give support to the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras and force Christian employees to pretend that this is acceptable.

Furthermore, forcing organisations out of this parade because of its offensive conduct is the best way of highlighting that this lifestyle should not be recognised, protected and enshrined in our marriage laws.

This is a huge opportunity to turn back the tide of propaganda that is currently, and seemingly inexorably, promoting homosexual marriage. Unfortunately, if marriage laws do change, then we can kiss goodbye to the freedom to practise our Christian beliefs in our schools, businesses and even in our homes. The litany of totalitarian oppression against Christians in other Western nations that have approved homosexual marriage shows that enforcement of pro-homosexual policy is swift and merciless. For instance, law societies in Canada are now refusing to give accreditation to law graduates from Christian colleges that promote the sanctity of marriage.

I know that many of you have already generously donated to assist my family. I thank you for that. Without your support, I would not have been able to reach this point and I am not asking you to donate again, or for anyone to give what they cannot afford.

But this is what I need to go on:

$50 for a legal contingency account to cover possible costs if legal action is unsuccessful. This money will be returned if legal action is successful.

$5 per month for a legal expense account. This money will cover legal expenses. Currently, my legal teams have not been charging, but there are other costs. And if we wish to build strong teams of good lawyers, then we will need to support them as well.

$5 per month for a family expense account. This will enable me to continue writing and publicising the serious issues facing Australian society. Thanks be to God, my webpage is having an influence – the National Library of Australia has even recognised this and has asked permission to include it in its archives. I would love to continue this work.

I know that it is incredibly bold to ask for this support from you. But it is also humbling to do so. I am knocking. If it is God’s will for me to continue, then I will receive.

Details for these accounts are below:

Gaynor Legal Contingency A/c: $50

Thanks to the support of the Canberra Declaration team and other groups like Saltshakers, a considerable letter writing campaign was organised in March, 2013. Although it did not result in the removal of uniformed military personnel from the Mardi Gras, I do know from various sources that it caused considerable pressure and tension.

I am very hopeful that a renewed and enlarged letter writing campaign will bear fruit. Even if policies do not change, those in power will be put on notice that their decisions are being scrutinised and are deeply unpopular. It will also strengthen the resolve of pro-family politicians by letting them know that they have support, while informing new politicians and other organisations about this issue. A draft letter is below:

Dear x,
On 16 April 2013, an Australian Defence Force (ADF) Quick Assessment Report concluded that the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras vilified Christianity and was a political event. This is not surprising: the constitution of the Mardi Gras outlines political activity as an object of the parade and Christian beliefs are routinely denigrated by participants in various states of undress.

This same report also found that soldiers would be ‘severely dealt with’ if they participated in an event that vilified Mohammad in the same way that Jesus Christ was attacked at the Mardi Gras.

However, I am deeply concerned that despite these conclusions, senior officers within the military chose not to order a formal investigation because they believed vilification of Christianity was now acceptable under ADF policy. Furthermore, the military has continued to support the Mardi Gras and celebrate its ‘culture’. This decision violates Commonwealth law prohibiting vilification and the ADF’s own lawful general orders that prohibit uniformed attendance at political events, support of sexually-explicit activity and religious vilification. It is also blatant double standards: this year the ADF has refused to allow pro-life and pro-family members to march at the March for Babies in uniform.

I am also shocked that the officer who raised concerns about ADF participation in the Mardi Gras, Bernard Gaynor, has had his commission terminated.

Australians are rightly proud of the ADF and its history. They trust it to protect them and the laws of this land. Unfortunately, that confidence is shaken when the military violates long held Western traditions to avoid interference in domestic political issues. Quite frankly, it is offensive that the ADF is now supporting the largest annual political protest rally against extant laws regarding marriage. It is unbelievable that it gives more respect to Islam than Christianity.

I ask that you raise this issue publicly and that you use your position of influence and authority to hold the ADF to account. For Australia’s sake, confidence in the military must be maintained. This cannot occur if it marches in a degrading and partisan political rally promoting a culture that Australians do not support.

It is also difficult to fathom how the military can address ongoing issues of sexual abuse when soldiers are permitted to attend an event that promotes nudity and sexual licentiousness.

Kind regards, X

I know a number of you have already written in the last two weeks. Please consider taking a little more time to send the draft letter (or a variation of your choice) individually to all of the following politicians, media outlets, officials, Church leaders and Christian organisations.

Please also consider raising the issue of military support for homosexual political activism with your Christian leaders, and any conservative or pro-family groups that you may be involved with. There are still many, many people who are unaware of this situation and I find, almost invariably, that they are shocked when they find out that the Australian Defence Force parades at the Mardi Gras and funds sex-change operations for soldiers.

I am also prepared to brief anyone who is willing to personally visit their local Federal Member of Parliament. It would be great if we could publicise photos through social media of Australian citizens discussing this issue with their elected representatives. Please let me know if you are willing to do this.

Please also pray. Without God’s assistance, our efforts are futile. And if they are not in line with His Will, they are wasted.
I will be praying the Prayer for the Conversion of Australia throughout August. Please feel free to do so as well:

O God, who has appointed Mary, Help of Christians; St Francis Xavier, and St Teresa of the Infant Jesus, Patrons of Australia; grant that, through their intercession, our brethren outside the Church may receive the light of faith, so that Australia may become one in faith under one shepherd, through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Mary, Help of Christians, pray for us.
St Francis Xavier, pray for us.

St Teresa of the Infant Jesus, pray for us.[/QUOTE]I know many Christians may not feel comfortable with a prayer to Our Lady Help of Christians. Catholics believe that Our Lady is a powerful intercessor on our behalf. There is no reason to believe that Jesus Christ would not listen to His mother, just as we listen to our own. There is great reason to believe my commission would not be lost if I had a powerful person to intercede for me at Defence Headquarters. I am more than happy to enlist the powerful intercession of Our Lord’s mother up in the highest HQ of all.

And as some of you may know, the Christian fleet at Lepanto requested Our Lady Help of Christians to intercede for them as they sailed into battle on 7 October, 1571. This fleet eventually proved victorious over the much larger Islamic fleet sailing toward Europe. Many historians acknowledge that this event was one of the most important military battles of the last 500 years. It saved Europe from falling to Islam and it is a matter of historical fact that Saint Pope Pius V received a revelation that the fleet was victorious at Lepanto while praying for the intercession of Our Lady Help of Christians. He ordered that the bells ring out in celebration throughout Rome, two weeks before messengers arrived with news of the victory.

Thank you for reading this email and considering my request. I know that I ask a lot; probably more than many can give. Please know, regardless of the outcome, I will continue to write and fight to preserve our culture and heritage with whatever means I can.

It has been a tremendous privilege to meet so many of you personally over the last 18 months and to have received the support of so many more. Indeed, it has filled me with great hope and confidence. Our society has suffered from some terrible defeats against the family over the last two generations. Despite this, there is still an army of Australians who are decent and ready to fight for our Christian culture, heritage and values. And there are many more people engaged in this fight overseas.

I know this from personal experience. I would not be in a position to write this letter today if I had not already received such great support.

God bless,

Bernard Gaynor

Dear Kathleen,

Last night my legal team lodged documents in the Federal Court suing the Chief of Defence Force for his decision to terminate my commission following my objections to uniformed involvement in the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras.

The Chief of Defence Force made this decision after military administrative and disciplinary investigations cleared me of any wrong-doing for speaking out against Defence support of public indecency and the threat of Islam in Australia.

I will be alleging in this matter that it is the Chief of Defence Force who has breached Defence policy and lawful general orders, not me.

I would like to thank you for your support, encouragement and prayers. They have been very important. I would also like to thank all those who have donated to support this action. Without this generosity, it simply would not have been possible to commence this fight.

Hopefully, your efforts will help to secure a victory in the courts protecting the rights of Christians in Australia to freely and publicly express their faith and to serve this nation while doing so.
